Education Opportunites

Course providers who seek RECA recognition to deliver pre-licensing education must understand the pre-licensing marketplace and RECA's role in establishing the credentialing framework, including RECA’s Pre-Licensing Education Philosophy.

RECA's Board of Directors and Industry Councils commit to a credentialing framework that achieves the following outcomes:

  • Course providers receive all information required to make informed decisions about whether to become a recognized course provider.
  • All course providers may offer pre-licensing education when they meet RECA's Course and Course Provider Requirements.
  • The pre-licensing education marketplace operates in a fair and competitive manner. Course providers may compete based on:
    • Delivery method — Course providers have the flexibility to choose the course format, whether it's in-person instruction, virtual classrooms, eLearning, or hybrid options. These courses can be delivered synchronously or asynchronously.
    • Course cost — Course providers may set their own course fees
    • Course terms — Course providers may establish the duration for course completion
    • Course Support — Course providers may offer supportive resources, such as tutors and tutorials, to assist learners with course content.
  • Course providers retain the freedom to structure and organize courses in a manner that best supports institutional and instructional needs, provided they follow the Competency Exam Blueprints.
  • Learners receive sufficient information to make informed decisions within a competitive education marketplace. Learners may access links to all recognized course providers, along with average exam pass rates and average grades by course provider.
  • RECA and course providers maintain a collaborative relationship. RECA treats all course providers equally and shares examination results and reports.
